What Is The LifeSkillsYogaProgram©?
The LifeskillsYogaProgram© that I have developed, and honed, over the last 20 years combines the various forms of yoga and meditation I have studied with Spiritual Psychology.
-
I begin every session asking the client to set an intention. We then start to focus on the natural breath, slowly working toward a lengthening of the breath. Once a deep and steady breath is established (that will look different for every person), the client is directed to go inward into the awareness of the body and move, stretch, wiggle any part that speaks to them. Time is taken to really be present to both the breath and the body.
At this point, I will lead the client through any variety of hatha yoga exercises that have been personally chosen based on the client’s physical abilities and needs. We conclude this with a short meditation.
I will ask client about the particular topic we are focusing on for the session. Sessions are divided into modules over the eight weeks of the program. We address topics relating to any issues of stress or upset as an exploration of thoughts and feelings through the lens of Spiritual Psychology. This includes utilizing tools such as deep heart listening, reframing of stressful or challenging situations, as well as a variety of meditative practices to fit the client in that moment.
-
The topics we address in the program are:
- Identifying personal beliefs and affirmations in everyday life
- Using the power of imagination and creativity for enhanced living
- Identifying/creating rituals to support stability and self-expression
- Mindfulness for positive change
- Understanding Yoga and the Immune system/Aligning with self-care
- Exploring deep heart listening of self and others and the power of forgiveness
-
Based on how each session has played out and the particular needs of the client in that moment, I will choose a Kundalini Yoga Kriya that helps to address that need from the mental/emotional, physical and spiritual perspectives. Kriyas are very specific in their intention, such as Kriya for Self-Reliance, Nabhi Kriya for Digestion, Kriya to Cleanse the Body, Meditation for Burnout, etc. Every session ends with a long relaxation.
These sessions are recorded for the client to save and revisit at any time. In this way, the client will create, with my guidance over the eight weeks, a personalized practice of both Hatha and Kundalini Kriyas, as well as specific lifeskills such as effective breathing practices, a variety of meditations, and a scope of behavioral practices grounded in spiritual psychology. This becomes a personalized holistic yoga practice that has been developed specifically for the client’s needs, for continued reference and support.
As part of the Life Skills Yoga Program website, I offer Chair Yoga classes and All-Levels yoga classes. These classes are on-going and meet twice a week for an $8/month auto-renew subscription. I also offer one-time private yoga sessions, for $80/session, designed to meet the current needs of the client and are recorded for the client to continue to practice on their own. This is particularly helpful in offering clients a jumping off point towards creating a personalized yoga practice.
While in the LifeSkillsYogaProgram© clients will have free access to the chair yoga and all levels yoga classes offered twice a week.
